In 2017, inspired by the challenges faced by her adopted son living with behavioral and mental health disorders, Laurie founded the Association for the Chronically Mentally Ill (ACMI). This nonprofit collaborates with stakeholders to enhance care, promote effective systems, and address housing and parity issues for individuals with serious mental illness. She also serves on multiple boards, including Columbia University’s Global Mental Health International Advisory Board, Valleywise Medical Foundation, Copa Health Foundation, and Mercy Care Governance Board. Laurie chairs Arizona’s Independent Oversight Committee for the State Hospital, advocating for systemic improvements in mental health care.

Laurie’s philanthropic work extends to arts and education. As a Trustee of Arizona State University and co-chair of the ASU National Arts Council, she supports equitable access to education and uses art to address societal challenges. She is a Milestone Donor to ASU Gammage and a recipient of the Jerry Award for Philanthropy and the Tony Award from Broadway Across America.

Laurie and her husband, Charles, manage the Charles & Laura Ann Goldstein Philanthropic Trust, advancing their passion for mental health, education, and the arts. They split their time between Paradise Valley, Arizona, and La Jolla, California, where Laurie continues to profoundly impact the community.
